His prayers were answered and two days into the new millennium, he brought his crumpled betting slip to the Newport betting shop to claim his big win.
The winnings had amounted to a whopping total of £194,400! Nobody had passed on the bet to head office, never thinking that the bet could actually come true,
but after a couple of days the bet was confirmed as valid. The bettor received his win total, making the 6,479/1 accumulator the largest novelty bet payout in the history of bookmaking. What a day that must have been!
